embracing nutrition and functional medicine, the UK's first Functional Medicine Practice with online consultations

Supporting those on a cancer journey

Jo’s passion for supporting those who have undergone or are undergoing cancer treatment began more than 15 years ago when the side effects from the chemotherapy drug her daughter was taking were so gruelling she wanted to support her body to handle the treatment and minimise the long-lasting side effects. This took Jo to America to study her fellowship in Integrative Oncology. There was nothing more powerful than a mum on a mission……

What is Integrative Oncology?

” Integrative oncology is a patient-centered, evidence-informed field of comprehensive cancer care that uses mind-body practices, natural products, and lifestyle modifications from different traditions alongside conventional cancer treatments. It prioritizes safety and best available evidence to offer appropriate therapeutic interventions along with conventional care.

Integrative oncology brings together complementary therapies and conventional cancer treatment. The goal is to improve the lives of people affected by cancer, wherever they are on their journey.

Integrative oncology uses nutritional, lifestyle, psychological and complementary interventions alongside orthodox cancer treatments to improve wellbeing for cancer patients.

We aim to improve quality of life, improve health status and minimise the side effects of conventional treatment.

We at Embracing Nutrition are patient-centred.  We apply the latest evidence and research in conjunction with functional and genomic tests to discover what is happening inside your body to guide our protocols.

We will work with you to discover imbalances which may have contributed to your health journey.  We’ll look in detail at your personal story, then we’ll develop a personalised plan for you, with realistic, achievable changes to help you regain control over your health.

Every person is unique, and depending on your situation, we’ll recommend the most appropriate options for you. We’ll support you emotionally and empower you to make positive changes to support your health.

We embrace a combination of approaches, including:

  • Personalised nutrition guidance. By listening to you and looking in detail at your health history, we’ll discover which foods sustain and which deplete your body. We’ll work together to provide your body with nourishing foods and recommend nutritional and/or herbal supplements where appropriate.
  • Healthy lifestyle choices, especially to support sleep and stress management.
  • Physiotherapy for rehabilitation, to improve movement and gain strength also supporting your inner terrain.
  • Functional laboratory testing, including examining how your diet and lifestyle interact with your genetics.
  • If we feel you would benefit from other complementary therapies such as yoga, acupuncture or specialist massage, we’ll refer you to a practitioner in our trusted network.

Your protocol will be unique to you and we will support you from wherever you start your journey.
