About Ryre

Hello, I am Ryre. I am a born and bred South African. I moved over to the UK in 2008 to pursue my career in Psychology. As all things in life, it evolved into something completely unexpected.

From as far back as my teenage years, I have always been fascinated by health. I used to collect articles from magazines on anything health related. Looking back, I would say I was strongly influenced by my Dad’s medical-minded approach in his pharmacy, along with my Mum’s physical-minded approach teaching movement therapy. Therefore, I landed somewhere in between.

After qualifying in South Africa with an Honour’s degree in Psychology and Biochemistry, I worked in various settings from companies to schools to hospitals. I was so grateful to meet all sorts of individuals from all walks of life with various mental and physical health struggles.

This led to greater enquiry on my part; at a similar time I was struggling with my own health issues. Finding it difficult to spin all the plates I was dealing with at the time, I knew my body and mind were suffering from high levels of stress. After being diagnosed with adrenal burnout, anxiety and colitis within months of each other, I knew I needed to explore options beyond the possible medical route; ‘a pill for an ill’ that I was so accustomed to as a child.

As dramatic as this sounds it couldn’t be truer – “Seeing a Nutritional therapist changed my life! Changed the QUALITY of my life!” Understanding why I felt the way I did and understanding various tools I could use gave me my power back to be in control of my health, to make lifestyle changes I needed to make and feel well again. Not only did the penny drop for me personally, but it also highlighted how I wanted to work as a therapist to help others get their quality of life back and put the pieces of their own health puzzle together.

In 2013, I qualified with an MSc in Nutritional Therapy from CNELM (Middlesex University) and since then have continued to do further training in Functional Medicine, NLP and Fertility Nutrition.

I seem to have always worked in areas of mental and physical resilience. I am a firm believer in the power of our nervous system and how it influences so many functions such as digestion, reproduction, rest and repair. Nutritional therapy is such a vital part of the health of these systems, it’s the building block to not only survive but thrive.

A more recent string to my bow is fertility nutrition with pre and post-conception care. What better form of preventative medicine is there?

This is one of the most rewarding areas I work in. Not only do I help couples with their own health goals, but I also support healthy pregnancies and therefore support the health of children long term.

Having two children of my own and witnessing this unfold before my very eyes I can tell you now that this stuff works!

It can be as simple as working on a few nutrient deficiencies between you and your partner that will have an impact on egg and sperm health, or more complex conditions and using functional testing to explore the gut and vaginal microbiome. Whatever the case, I work alongside couples and individuals getting to the root cause of their imbalances and reducing all the overwhelm which comes with this.

I look forward to supporting you, by cutting through the confusion and showing you a clear road map so you can take back control, reduce overwhelm and feel empowered to apply manageable and targeted nutrient and lifestyle recommendations one step at a time! NO MORE
GUESS WORK! Everyone deserves to be healthy and thrive.

Nutritional Therapy, Functional Medicine and Psychology work in such a complementary way to help me understand my client’s story, look deeper and broader and explore other considerations such as diet, lifestyle, genetics, emotional resilience, and environment, all contributing to this health journey we find ourselves on.
