About Karen Preece Smith
MA, BA (Hons) DipION, mBANT, CNHC
Karen believes everyone can become the architect of their own health. Her aim is to guide you through the journey back to optimum wellness by facilitating meaningful, targeted dietary and lifestyle changes to restore balance to your body.
Karen’s approach is completely personalised to the individual in front of her, using a Functional Medicine approach to address underlying biochemical imbalances, often with the guidance of Functional Testing, where appropriate, to guide nutritional focus.
Karen trained in Nutritional Therapy at The Institute for Optimum Nutrition (ION). She has undertaken further training in Nutrigenomics (how our gene expression can be influenced by our lifestyle and nutrition), NLP, (Neuro Linguistic Programming), and Applying Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice with The Institute of Functional Medicine.
Karen works with complex digestive symptoms, autoimmunity, post-viral fatigue and Long Covid as her specialisms. Karen is also a health writer and works closely with The institute of Optimum Nutrition, supporting nutrition students in their journey to becoming wellness practitioners.
When Karen is not in clinic she is playing with her two young children or practising yoga, (for which she is also a teacher). Karen can offer you tools for behavioural change, motivation and expert knowledge in nutritional science, to increase your understanding of your health issue and how it can be transformed. She can then guide and support you in your empowerment to take control of your own health.
Karen is now taking on Nutritional Therapy clients in the following areas:
