This test is recommended for people who:

• Have experienced high levels of stress.
• Suffer from the signs and symptoms of adrenal dysfunction or adrenal
  exhaustion.
• Experience trouble getting up in the morning or getting to sleep at night.

  Suffer from a chronic immune or inflammatory health condition

The adrenal stress index test measures the following:

Four cortisol samples at key time point throughout the day to give insight into the natural circadian rhythm.

DHEA  – measured once in the 7:00 AM – 9:00 AM sample.

Ratio of DHEA to cortisol  – to provide insight into what stage of stress the body is in.

Cortisol Awakening Response (CAR) – measures the immediate rise in cortisol that happens upon waking which  reflects a person’s ability to cope with anticipated challenges. This provides insight into resilience to stress.

Secretory IgA –  An important marker for the immune function associated with the mucous membranes in the body and helps to show how stress may be impacting on immune function.

Six saliva samples taken at specific time points throughout the day.

Samples require freezing before sending back to the lab.

Ketoconazole, clomiphene, phenytoin, steroids, and DHEA will influence the results of the Adrenal Stress Profile.

Do not change or discontinue medications unless instructed to do so by your healthcare provider, but make sure your therapist knows about these and any other medications and supplements you have used in the past 3 months.

On the day of the adrenal stress index test: avoid caffeine, alcohol, and nicotine.

Do not eat, brush or floss teeth, use mouthwash, or chew gum 1 hour before you take each sample.

Avoid wearing lipstick or lip balm.

2. Collect Your Sample at Home
   Every test comes with clear instructions on how to collect your samples.
3. Return Your Test
   Once you’ve collected your sample, simply return it to the lab using the prepaid shipping label included in your kit. Your samples need to be sent guaranteed next day delivery or via courier please do not send samples on a Friday.
4. Analysis and Result Interpretation
   Once processed, your results will be sent to us. We can then provide you with this information directly.
