Organic acids are intermediates produced in the pathways of many metabolic functions. If a chemical in the body has to get from A to B, there are usually many steps. The organic acids are produced during these steps. The accumulation of specific organic acids in urine often signals a metabolic inhibition or block. This abnormality may be due to a nutrient deficiency, an inherited enzyme deficit, toxic build-up or drug effect. The levels of different organic acids therefore reveal activity and changes at the metabolic level.

The Organic Acids Test assesses the levels of over 70 different organic acids, organised into clinically useful categories including:

4 days before collecting your samples for the Organic Acid Test, you should avoid apples, grapes (including raisins), pears, cranberries and their juices, as well discontinuing any non-essential supplements to get a “baseline” reading.

Please note supplements containing arabinogalactan, echinacea, reishi mushrooms, and ribose interfere directly with the test results.

Women should not collect urine during their period.

   We will be sent your results first and will then dispatch them to you. We offer a service to interpret your results and provide you with recommendations to improve any findings within them. This requires a consultation which can be added to your order at the time of booking.
2. Collect Your Sample at Home
   Every test comes with clear instructions on how to collect your samples.
3. Return Your Test
   Once you’ve collected your sample, simply return it to the lab using the prepaid shipping label included in your kit. Your samples need to be sent guaranteed next day delivery or via courier please do not send samples on a Friday.
4. Analysis and Result Interpretation
   Once processed, your results will be sent to us. We can then provide you with this information directly.
